About Lloyda Williamson, M.D.

Dr. Lloyda Williamson is Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Meharry Medical College.

She obtained her B.S. in Natural Sciences from Oakwood University and her M.D. degree from Meharry. She completed Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry training at Emory University and is board certified in both specialties. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Williamson has provided clinical services in private practice, community mental health and academic centers, and has taught trainees in multiple disciplines. Her practice approach is holistic. Dr. Williamson’s presentations in community and academic settings include topics regarding spirituality, cultural psychiatry and telepsychiatry.

She provides psychiatric services at the Lloyd C. Elam Mental Health Center such as psychotherapy, psychiatric evaluations, opioid maintenance treatment and medication management.
