About Jason Cheng, M.D.
Dr. Jason Cheng is a psychiatrist at the Lloyd C. Elam Mental Health Center whose services include psychiatric evaluation and opioid maintenance treatment. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Meharry Medical College and serves as Residency Training Director.
He received an M.D. degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He subsequently completed a general adult psychiatry residency at the University of California in San Francisco, Calif., followed by a public psychiatry fellowship at Columbia University.
He is board-certified in psychiatry. His previous clinical work was in a community mental health setting, working predominantly with people with serious mental illnesses. He taught trainees of various disciplines at multiple levels of training. His interests include mindfulness, cultural psychiatry and the integration of physical and mental health treatments.
